Megerkezesekor
budapesti elmenyek egyre jobban beszippantjak, vegul magyarul kezd motyogni
almaban.
Amikor egy sikeres
munkaja hatasara a felesege beleszeret egy masik ferfiba, Costa csalodottnak es
becsapottnak erzi magat, s elhatarozza, hogy visszamegy Budapestre megtalalni
onmagat, es uj torteneteket irni.
Costa talalkozik
Krisztaval a fiat, Pistit egyedul nevelo magyartanarral. Az o szeretetevel es
tamogatasaval Jose Costabol Kosta Zsoze lesz, magyarorszagi szellemiro, aki
ujra kepes lesz mesteri ertekezesek, novellak, versek megirasara.
A filmmel kapcsolatban
harom dolog jutott most eszembe. Az elso, ami kicsit visszavitt az idoben, abba
az evbe, mikor mi is Magyarorszagra koltoztunk Eclezioval. Egy kulfoldi kezdeti
nyelvi botladozasai, kuzdelme a magyar nyelvvel, a kiejtessel, a hosszu szavakkal.
Magyarul tanulni nehez.
A masodik dolog ami
mindenki ormester lenne?? Pattog, fegyelmez, leteremt, rendreutasit, haborog
mindenert.
Neha parhuzamosan mutatnak a filmben

I watched this movie some years ago but I just recently discovered it on YouTube and I thought why not to watch it again, so I watched it.
The story is about a ghost writer, Jose Costa, who returns from a ghost writers convention when his airplane rerouted to Budapest. He falls in love with Hungarian language and his life is also rerouted when he meets Krista and with her help he learns "the only language in the world which, according to the tongue-wagers, the devil respects".
Three things came to my mind about this movie. First, I felt like going back in time, in 2009, when we moved to Hungary. Eclezio was a foreigner there, fighting with the language, with the pronunciation, with long words and with different culture and people. Learning in Hungarian is hard. As it is said in the movie, "you cannot learn Hungarian from books". It is very well presented in there. Foreigners need lots of patience to reach the point when they actually can express themselves or dispute with someone. Unfortunately Eclezio run out of his patience before he could have had any success so it seems Hungarian will be spoken by me and Caio only.
The second thought was my own fight with Portuguese language now. Currently I am the foreigner in a country I barely speak its language but I work on it and try hard. It might be very funny for Eclezio`s parents to listen how I mix up words, try to make a proper sentence and to listen to my accent. As they live in countryside, they don`t see foreigners in their environments at all (in fact, I am the only foreigner they saw in their life) so for them it is just like a new experience to accept me and help me, as for me to integrate to the country and to adopt their culture.
The third thing that came to my mind during the whole movie was that, my Godness, why Hungarians act like as they were sergeant?? They discipline, educate, regulate and call to order everyone! When at some point of the movie that poor middle-age Brazilian writer begin to bow to someone he works for, I really started to feel ashamed about this behave. Sometimes the movie shows pictures about Budapest and Rio in parallel and the contrast is huge (however it must be added that I am not a big fan of Budapest, I prefer the countryside of Hungary. Budapest had always depressurized me rather than filled with energy).
I think this movie is well understandable for even those who doesn`t speak in Portuguese because its atmosphere comes through very well however people who ever lived abroad or have foreign spouse might get a better understanding of the message.
